Have you ever heard of ERP system? As
expected, very small number of people heard about this.
ERP is an
abbreviation of Enterprise Resource Planning. It means that ERP is a way of
managing information to increase management efficiency from the perspective of
an effective use of management resources.
This slide is about
strengths and weaknesses of ERP system
Firstly as a strength, enterprise can
construct integrated information system by using ERP.
And This makes
enterprise’s management system more efficient. So, innovation management is
possible through ERP system.
As a result, This effective ERP system improves
working process and minimizes leading time.
However, in spite of many
strengths, it has also three main weaknesses.
First of all, the most serious
weakness is limitation of system knowledge. ERP system is a little difficult
system. Therefore, in order to everyone use this system, they must take
education about this. This problem brings about high cost of introduction and
consulting.
Lastly, when using ERP system, the enterprise have to depend on
one company for a long time.
It is so risky situation for enterprise. Because
enterprise may deprive initiative from depending
company.
Firstly, I explain about why LG electronics introduce
ERP system.
In past, LG CEO realize that not only inventories but also
production cost and processing time is increased.
So they decided to change
their whole system. This project is called Win project.
And as a part of Win
project, LG introduce ERP system which is controlled by
ORACLE.
